Breaking Illusion. Bearing Truth.
We Empower Muslim Community Leaders to Navigate Artificial Intelligence: the Impact, Illusions, and Injustices of Our Time
AI is Here. The Time for Mastery is Now.
Powerful AI tools are reshaping our world — and our communities are already engaging with them every day.
Generative AI is producing fabricated images, text, audio, and video that blur the line between truth and falsehood.
Behind the scenes, algorithmic systems are influencing decisions in business, law, finance, government, healthcare, military, media, and more.
This is not just a technological shift — it’s a transformation of how reality is perceived.
As Muslims, we cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We must be part of the conversation — and the transformation — advocating for truth, equity, justice, and our Islamic values.
If you are a community leader, imam, educator, or board member, it is your duty to understand these tools — both their benefits and their dangers — and to guide your community with clarity and confidence through these changing, challenging times.
Prophet Musa's Legacy (عَلَیهِالسَّلام)
Prophet Musa (عَلَیهِالسَّلام) was raised in the very heart of Pharaoh’s empire — within the halls of power, luxury, and illusion. Pharaoh’s rule was propped up by sihr (magic), spectacle, and systems of oppression that maintained control over the people. Yet from within that system, Musa rose with a message of truth.
He spoke out — not just against tyranny, but against the illusions that kept people deceived. When Pharaoh’s magicians cast spells to manipulate perception, Musa cast his staff, and the illusions shattered. What remained was truth. What remained was justice. What remained was tawheed.
Today, we live in a different kind of empire — one powered by algorithms instead of magic. Artificial Intelligence is becoming the new illusion: shaping what we see, know, and believe. A small group of actors controls the data, the tools, and the narratives — often embedding bias, falsehood, and surveillance into systems that affect billions.
As Muslims, it is our duty to see clearly. Our legacy is not silence — it is shahādah: to bear witness to the truth.
Project Musa honors this legacy by empowering Muslim leaders, educators, and communities to:
- See beyond the illusions of modern systems
- Understand the tools shaping our world
- Speak out with wisdom and clarity
- Build futures rooted in justice, ethics, and truth
This is not just a technical challenge. It’s a spiritual responsibility.
We are called to stand firm — with clear hearts, untied tongues, and a commitment to guiding our people in this time.

Research & Development
Partner with us to conduct research at a local, national, or international level. We cannot improve what we do not measure. Research areas of interest include: status of AI literacy, fiqh & AI, and more. We are actively seeking funding, research and implementation partners to maximize impact.
Program Testimonials
“Before this course, AI felt like a mystery — something far away and too technical to understand. But the way it was explained through a faith-based lens made it all click. I now feel confident explaining AI to others in my masjid and thinking critically about the tools I use every day.”
— Sana A., Community Organizer & AI 101 Graduate
“This was the first time someone spoke to us about AI without making it feel scary or irrelevant. They showed us how it affects our social media, job applications, even policing — and how we can shape what comes next. It made me feel like I have a voice in the future of tech, not just a consumer of it.”
— Jamal R., Grade 12 Student, Toronto
“Participating in this study opened my eyes. I realized how little we’re discussing AI in the khutbahs or classrooms — yet it’s influencing our youth, families, and institutions every day. This research is vital, and it’s already changed how I approach my role as an imam.”
— Imam Yasin K., Research Participant
